Chana was born and raised near the ocean, spending most of her life in or near the clear water. As a child she knew exactly what she wanted to be, an Oceanographer. As she got older people started assuming she was dumb, or slutty, or about a million other things she wasn't, simply because of the way she looked. In high school she realized that could be turned into a good thing, and started using peoples assumptions against them. She quickly earned and maintained one of the highest GPAs in her class, taking a few college classes in her senior year. She even participated in a few after school activities and volunteered.

At 17 she graduated high school a semester early, earning a scholarship as well. She started the spring semester of college that year. Sticking to her childhood dream, and her love of the ocean she began taking the courses she'd need to become an Oceanographer. Again she worked twice as hard, proving to herself and anyone who doubted it that she was smart enough to do this. She kept a high GPA, and stuck to a few school related activities. Which left very little time for a regular life.

At 24 she was approached by a man who seemed impressed with her studies. He asked if she'd be interested in participating in field work, which would of course count toward her degree. Chana, who'd begun feeling extremely trapped by school, jumped at the opportunity, barely asking any questions. She had her bags packed and was ready to go in two days. About 10 months later she was still glad to be out of the school, even if some of the people she worked for were creepy.

When the survivors were rescued, things didn't really change for Chana. She continued her research, furthering it some, but not making a huge break through. She continued to be friends (though her feelings were defiantly more then that) with Razzle, and she continued to find most of the Others on the Island creepy.

Then at 27 she was among the few given permission to leave the island to visit her family and friends. While she was overly excited to get to see everyone she loved again, she was also sad to be leaving Razzle (someone else she loved). She debated finally telling her friend how she felt the whole submarine ride, finally making a last minuet decision when they were left on the dock in San Diego. She down played how serious her feelings were a little, but basically layed it all on the line. While she would have loved an instant I feel the same sort of thing, she was just glad when her friend hadn't gone running in the other direction.

The bus ride (she refused to get on a plane) from San Diego to Georgetown was the longest trip of her life. One which was filled with nothing but excitement to see her family again. She hadn't told them she was coming home, decided surprising them would be more fun. Surprised they were, and loaded with a million questions for their daughter. Questions she answered as honestly as she could, without making the warning bells in her head go off (talking about the Island, or Ben seemed too risky to bother, so she stuck with how much she enjoyed her research and her friendship with Razzle and others).

When the letter arrived over a year later, Chana couldn't say she was exactly surprised. Though she put it in the bottom of a desk drawer and quickly forgot about it. That is until she got her second, then third letter. She would have kept ignoring them, but the third letter came with a picture of Kara at school. After that Chana packed up her things, told her parents and sister the research team she'd been working on made a breakthrough a wanted her back, and made her way back to the island. Wondering if she'd ever see her family, and if her friend would be on the island with her again.

Personality: Chana's a determined woman. She's stubborn and expressive. She's got a bit of a silly side, and likes to have fun. She doesn't appear to have a violent bone in her body, she doesn't even like killing bugs. When it comes to her work she's a perfectionist and serious. She's easy to scare, and generally loud. When it comes to everything but her work/career she's indecisive..
